Abstract

During hot extrusion of aluminium bronze, the quality of the extruded product depends on the process parameters such as billet and container’s initial temperature, friction, etc. Material flow and dead metal zone formation are of particular importance for the extruded part quality. In the present work, an attempt was made to predict the defects source by the means of 2D Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation using FORGE® software. For this purpose, a parametric study was performed in order to investigate the effect on each parameter on the extrusion process.
