3D printing using concrete extrusion: A roadmap for research
TypeArticles dans des revues avec comité de lecture
Large-scale additive manufacturing processes for construction utilise computer-controlled placement of extruded cement-based mortar to create physical objects layer-by-layer. Demonstrated applications include component manufacture and placement of in-situ walls for buildings. These applications vary the constraints on design parameters and present different technical issues for the production process. In this paper, published and new work are utilised to explore the relationship between fresh and hardened paste, mortar, and concrete material properties and how they influence the geometry of the created object. Findings are classified by construction application to create a matrix of issues that identifies the spectrum of future research exploration in this emerging field.

Isogeometric shape optimization of smoothed petal auxetic structures via computational periodic homogenization WANG, Zhen-Pei; POH, Leong Hien; DIRRENBERGER, Justin; ZHU, Yilin; FOREST, Samuel (Elsevier, 2017)An important feature that drives the auxetic behaviour of the star-shaped auxetic structures is the hinge-functional connection at the vertex connections. This feature poses a great challenge for manufacturing and may lead ...
Correlation of the high and very high cycle fatigue response of ferrite based steels with strain rate-temperature conditions TORABIAN, Noushin; FAVIER, Véronique; DIRRENBERGER, Justin; ADAMSKI, Frédéric; ZIAEI-RAD, Saeed; RANC, Nicolas (Pergamon, 2017)The discrepancies observed between conventional and ultrasonic fatigue testing are assessed through the mechanisms of dislocation mobility in BCC metals. The existence of a transition condition between thermally-activated ...
Calorimetric Studies and Self-Heating Measurements for a Dual-Phase Steel Under Ultrasonic Fatigue Loading TORABIAN, Noushin; FAVIER, Véronique; ZIAEI-RAD, Saeed; DIRRENBERGER, Justin; ADAMSKI, Frédéric; RANC, Nicolas (ASTM International, 2016)The objective of the present research is to study the self-heating behavior of a dual-phase (DP) steel under ultrasonic fatigue loading and to investigate the effect of frequency on intrinsic heat dissipation of the material. ...
Large-scale 3D printing of ultra-high performance concrete – a new processing route for architects and builders GOSSELIN, Clément; DUBALLET, Romain; ROUX, Philippe; GAUDILLIÈRE, Nadja; DIRRENBERGER, Justin; MOREL, Philippe (Elsevier, 2016)In the present paper a new additive manufacturing processing route is introduced for ultra-high performance concrete. Interdisciplinary work involving materials science, computation, robotics, architecture and design ...
Self-Heating Measurements for a Dual-Phase Steel under Ultrasonic Fatigue Loading for stress amplitudes below the conventional fatigue limit TORABIAN, Noushin; FAVIER, Véronique; ZIAEI-RAD, Saeed; ADAMSKI, Frédéric; DIRRENBERGER, Justin; RANC, Nicolas (Elsevier, 2016)The aim of the present research was to study the self-heating behavior of a dual-phase steel under ultrasonic fatigue loading for stress amplitudes lower than the conventional fatigue limit. The steel studied in this ...
