Oxidative Ageing of Polymers
This book aims to rehabilitate kinetic modeling in the domain of polymer ageing, where it has been almost abandoned by the research community. Kinetic modeling is a key step for lifetime prediction, a crucial problem in many industrial domains in which needs cannot be satisfied by the common empirical methods. The book proposes a renewed approach of lifetime prediction in polymer oxidative ageing. This approach is based on kinetic models built from relatively simple mechanistic schemes but integrating physical processes (oxygen diffusion and stabilizer transport), and use property (for instance mechanical failure) changes. An important chapter is dedicated to radiation-induced oxidation and its most important applications: radiochemical ageing at low dose rates and photo-chemical ageing under solar radiation. There is also a chapter devoted to the problem of ageing under coupled oxidation and mechanical loading. (Extract from the web site of the publisher)

Thermo-oxidation behaviour of composite materials at high temperatures: A review of research activities carried out within the COMEDI program Article dans une revue avec comité de lectureLAFARIE, Marie Christine; GRANDIDIER, Jean Claude; OLIVIER, Loic; COLIN, Xavier; VERDU, Jacques; CINQUIN, Jacques (Elsevier, 2010)The present paper presents a review of the main activities carried out within the context of the COMEDI research program, a joint collaboration involving three research teams focusing on the thermo-oxidation behaviour of ...
Article dans une revue avec comité de lectureLE GAC, Pierre Yves; ROUX, Gérard; DAVIES, Peter; FAYOLLE, Bruno; VERDU, Jacques (Elsevier, 2014)Water sorption has been studied gravimetrically for polychloroprene rubber samples, first at a fixed hygrometric ratio (98% HR) and several temperatures (25, 40, 60 and 80 °C) for samples of 1.8 and 3.8 mm thickness (Constant ...
Article dans une revue avec comité de lectureEL YAGOUBI, Jalal; LUBINEAU, Gilles; TRAIDIA, Abderrazak; VERDU, Jacques (Elsevier, 2014)In this paper, we studied the water transport in thermoset matrices. We used Fourier Transform Infrared analysis (FTIR) during sorption/desorption experiments to investigate the interaction between sorbed water and the ...
Article dans une revue avec comité de lectureGILORMINI, Pierre; VERDU, Jacques (Elsevier, 2018)A kinetic model is proposed for the absorption of water in polymers. The process of bonding-debonding water molecules is described by two opposite reactions with different rate constants, and the key role of the concentration ...
