Buildings Definition as Product-Service Systems
Communication avec acte
Product-Service System is one way toward sustainable system development. One issue of PSS concerns the function allocation between the product part and the service part. In Architecture-Engineering-Construction,function assignment to either the building or the service offered is also a strong issue. The contracting owner (i.e. paying client) has to deal with this issue during the requirements definition. This paper proposes to tackle it through an adaptation and application of Gero’s Function-Behaviour-Structure design concept to the requirements definition of building systems considered as PSS. The proposed FBS decomposition is illustrated on the example of a kitchen in a retirement home.

Management of product design complexity due to epistemic uncertainty via energy flow modelling based on CPM Article dans une revue avec comité de lectureMALMIRY, Roozbeh Babaeizadeh; PAILHES, Jérôme; QURESHI, Ahmed Jawad; ANTOINE, Jean-François; DANTAN, Jean-Yves (Elsevier, 2016)Integrated product design and development in today’s highly competitive and economically challenging world is a complex process depending upon client requirements. One of the main factors contributing to the complexity of ...
Management of product characteristics uncertainty based on Formal Logic and Characteristics Properties Model Article dans une revue avec comité de lectureDANTAN, Jean-Yves; QURESHI, Ahmed Jawad; ANTOINE, Jean-François; EISENBART, Boris; BLESSING, Lucienne (Elsevier, 2013)Uncertainty in product characteristics is ubiquitous in any engineering system at all the stages of product life-cycle. Considering uncertainty from different sources during the product design phase is critical to its ...

A product functional modelling approach based on the energy flow by using characteristics-properties modelling Article dans une revue avec comité de lectureBABAEIZADEH MALMIRY, Roozbeh; DANTAN, Jean-Yves; PAILHES, Jérôme; ANTOINE, Jean-François (Taylor & Francis, 2016)The main objective in designing a product is to satisfy the required needs. So, the designer aims to design the product’s structure based on the required function of the product. Therefore, in the design process, the link ...
