Bubble sweep-down occurrence characterization on Research Vessels
TypeArticles dans des revues avec comité de lecture
Bubble sweep-down on oceanographic vessels generates acoustic perturbations. We propose in this work to characterize the sub-surface bubbles occurrence conditions from acoustic data analysis acquired during surveys in relatively shallow water with the IFREMER research vessels Thalassa and Pourquoi Pas?. The methodology of data analysis used in this work allows us to characterize the sailing conditions influence on bubble sweep-down occurrence. The correlation between sailing conditions and acoustic perturbations tends to demonstrate that the presence of bubbles under the hull is clearly related to the wind speed and natural aeration, and that surface bubbles are advected differently in the water column by the two vessels.

Experimental study of bubble sweep-down in wave and current circulating tank: Part II—Bubble clouds characterization DELACROIX, Sylvain; GERMAIN, Gregory; GAURIER, Benoit; BILLARD, Jean-Yves (ELSEVIER, 2016)In this second part, images acquired from the specific trials developed in order to study the phenomenon of bubble sweep-down are analysed. A post-processing method has been developed to analyse the two air entrainment ...
Experimental study of bubble sweep-down in wave and current circulating tank: Part I—Experimental set-up and observed phenomena DELACROIX, Sylvain; GERMAIN, Gregory; GAURIER, Benoit; BILLARD, Jean-Yves (ELSEVIER, 2016)Bubble sweep-down is a significant issue for the oceanographic vessels, which affect the acoustic sur- veys. Experimental trials, carried out in the Ifremerwave and current circulating tank on a 1/30 model of the Pourquoi ...
KGmax curves associated with second generation intact stability criteria for different types of ships GRINNAERT, François; BILLARD, Jean-YVes; LAURENS, Jean-Marc (SPRINGER, 2016)Currently, second generation intact stability criteria are being developed and evaluated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). In this paper, we briefly present levels 1 and 2 assessment methods for the criteria ...
Coherent and turbulent process analysis effects of a longitudinal vortex on boundary layer detachment on a NACA0015 foil PROTHIN, Sébastien; DJERIDI, Henda; BILLARD, Jean-Yves (Elsevier, 2013)In this paper, the influence of a single tip vortex on boundary layer detachment is studied. This study offers a preliminary approach in order to better understand the interaction between a propeller hub vortex and the ...
Thickness effect of NACA foils on hydrodynamic global parameters, boundary layer states and stall establishment SARRAF, Christophe; DJERIDI, Henda; PROTHIN, Sébastien; BILLARD, Jean-Yves (Elsevier, 2010)The present study investigates experimentally the hydrodynamic behavior of 2D NACA (15, 25, 35%) symmetric hydrofoils at Reynolds number 0.5 106 . A particular attention is paid on the hysteretic behavior at static stall ...
